Requirements to Change Major to Dance Science (BS-DANS)

In addition to meeting the academic preferences for change of major consideration into the Dance Science program, applicants must also pass an audition with the dance faculty. Information about the audition can be found here.

- The Dance Science program is looking for students who are interested in pursuing our degree as a focus. Students should indicate our program as the primary major they are interested in if they wish to be admitted. The essay and supporting materials should reflect that the student is interested in pursuing our degree.
- Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. The entire record is reviewed for consistency in coursework and grades.
Requirements to Change Major to Music (MUSC)
- Must have minimum GPA: 2.5
- Minimum transferable hours: 15
- Maximum transferable hours: 60
- Second Choice major eligible: No
- 9 hours of Core Curriculum requirements completed with a grade of C or better

Students may transfer only two (2) credit hours of Individual Performance Instruction and two (2) credit hours of Ensemble Performance.

4 credit hours of Individual Performance Instruction and 4 credit hours of Ensemble Performance must be completed within the BFA in Music Performance.

All students wishing to pursue a B.F.A. in Music Performance must successfully complete an audition. Auditions are administered by the Texas A&M University Music Performance faculty. Entry into the B.F.A. in Music Performance is contingent on acceptance into Texas A&M University.

Requirements to Change Major to Performance and Visual Studies (PVST)
- Must have a 2.00 GPA at the time of application
- No more than 75 completed hours
- 9 hours of core curriculum and/or general electives completed with a D or better
- If student has more than 60 credit hours, at least 15 of those need to fulfill core curriculum or general electives.
- PVST degree requires at least 4 remaining semesters to complete upper-level major-specific course work that must be taken in order.
- Must meet with an advisor
Requirements to Change Major to Theatre (THEA)
- 2.75 gpa
- 3 hours of Core Math
- 3 hours Core Life & Physical Science
- 3 credit hours of English/ Communications
- 60 max credit hours

In addition to meeting the academic preferences for transfer consideration into the Theatre program, applicants must also submit a 300-word Artist Statement illustrating:

Applicant interest in creating new and original works of theater using devising methods.

Demonstrated collaboration with a wide variety of peers.

Applicant creative and professional goals in the context of our curriculum.

Requirements to Change Major to Visualization (VIST)
- Must have a minimum of a 3.00 GPA at the time of application
- Must have completed two of the following: MATH 150, MATH 151 or MATH 152 at the time of application
- Must have at least 12 hours completed at Texas A & M
- No more than 60 total hours
- Portfolio of 10-20 pieces (including a minimum of one still life exercise) to be submitted digitally.
