Change of Major Information
Agricultural Economics (AGEC)
Requirements to Change Major to Agricultural Economics (AGEC)
- Must have a 2.75 GPA overall at the time of application.
- At least 12 graded hours at A&M
- Must have completed MATH 140 and MATH 142 (or equivalents). Student must have a minimum of C or higher in each class. If courses are completed at TAMU, student must have a minimum of a B in one MATH and a C in the other MATH. If completed at another institution, student must have a B in both MATH courses.
- Must complete at least 6 hours from the following list of courses:
- AGEC 105, ACCT 209 or 229, ACCT 210 or 230, ECON 202, ECON 203
- Student must have a minimum of a C or higher in each class. If courses are completed at TAMU, student must have a minimum of a B in one qualifying course and a C in the other qualifying course. If completed at other institution, student must have a B in both qualifying courses.
- Additional Requirements
- Essay must demonstrate why student would like an AGEC degree.

Biomedical Sciences (BIMS)
Requirements to Change Major to Biomedical Science (BIMS)
Must have all requirements met at the time of application:
- Must have a 3.0 GPA
Must have completed the following five (5) required CBK courses:
- BIOL 111, BIOL 112, CHEM 119, CHEM 120, MATH 142 (MATH 147 or MATH 151 or MATH 171)
- These courses must have a grade of a “C” or better.
- At least one required Chemistry should be taken in residency at Texas A&M University (College Station, McAllen, or Galveston)
- Minimum 12 credit hours completed at TAMU. Maximum hours is 80 credit hours. (excluding AP and dual credit)
- Change of major information
- MATH Core #2 (MATH 140 or MATH 148 or MATH 150 or MATH 168 or STAT 201) with a D or better
- CHEM 227/237 with a C or better
Construction Science (COSC)
Requirements to Change Major to Construction Science (COSC)
- Must have a 2.50 GPA at the time of application
- Must have at least 12 hours completed at TAMU
- <60 total hours (TAMU & transfer)
- Must have completion of PHYS 201 and GEOL 101/102 or CHEM 119
- Must have completion of MATH 140 and MATH 142
- Preferred coursework of ENGL 104 and ENGL 210
- 3.25 GPA is competitive for admission
- Essay is required on the change of major application
- Note: This degree requires an additional minimum 5 full semesters to complete the degree with the sequence of classes

TEAM Students
- In order to take PHYS 201 (1401) at Blinn you must have the Prerequisite(s): MATH 1314 and MATH 1316, or MATH 2312, or MATH 2412 or Divisional Dean approval.
- If you do not have this from Dual credits its recommended you take PHYS 201 at A&M.

**These requirements are for students who want to change from CS to McAllen or McAllen to CS. Applicants must apply for change of campus in Spring semester (December- February application) to begin at the new campus in the Fall semester. Campus change requests submitted in the Fall semesters will not be considered. It is recommended that you do not sign a lease until you have received a final decision regarding your change of campus request. Courses in progress at time of application are not considered in our review for change of major admission. Prospective change of major students must meet the minimum change of major requirements detailed above at the time of application.
*This does not apply to Galveston Students*

- Must have less than 75 total completed hours
- *Must have Math 135 completed with C or better (or approved substitutes)

Interdisciplinary Engineering (ITDE)
Requirements to Change Major to Interdisciplinary Engineering (ITDE)
- Must have a 3.25 GPA at the time of application
- MINIMUM COURSEWORK: MATH 151, MATH 152, PHYS 206, PHYS 207, CHEM 107/117 or CHEM 120
- Prefer: ENGL 103 or 104
- Minimum 24 hours
- No more than 60 hours
- Must meet with an advisor prior to applying. If pursuing build-your-own degree, a degree plan must submitted with an essay describing academic interests, career goals, and how Interdisciplinary Engineering aligns with those goals.
Maritime Business Administration (MARA)
Maritime Business Administration
- Minimum 2.0 overall GPA at the time of application
- Completed at least 12 hours

Multidisciplinary Engineering Technology (MXET)
Requirements to Change Major to Multidisciplinary ENGR Technology (MXET)
- Must have a 2.50 GPA at the time of application
- MINIMUM COURSEWORK: MATH 151, MATH 152, CHEM 107/117 (or CHEM 119 & CHEM 120) & PHYS 206 with a C or better
- Minimum 12 hours
Public Health (PHLT)
Change of Major
The Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) program will accept changes of major according to Texas A&M University policy, but restricts changes of major according to the criteria listed below. In addition, the dean or designate must verify availability of resources necessary to insure the student’s full-time enrollment in required courses prior to admission to the BSPH. If such resources are not available, admission will be denied.
Effective September 12, 2024: Students at Texas A&M University wishing to change their major after beginning in another college or department must meet the following requirements for the change to be considered:
- Minimum Texas A&M GPA of 2.75 and above
- Completion of four of the five required courses in core Mathematics and Science categories:

MATH 140 (or equivalent) preferred - 3 hours

Not accepted MATH 150, MATH 135, MATH 136
