Political Science (POLS)

Requirements to Change Major to Political Science (POLS)

  • Must have a 2.25 GPA at the time of application
  • Must have 6 hours of POLS coursework completed; 3hrs must be taken at A&M

    • Blinn Team or Engineering Academy students are encouraged to at least 3 hrs of POLS at TAMU but if not possible all 6 hrs may be taken at Blinn.

  • No more than 75 credit hours at the time of application.

    • Students with more than 75 but less than 90 hours should contact a POLS advisor to discuss the possibility of an appeal.

  • Requirements above must be met at the time of application. We do not “hold” applications for the end of term---all application are reviewed as they are received.

Political Science Program Information

Public Service & Administration (PSAA)

Requirements to Change Major to Public Service & Administration (PSAA)

  • 2.25 gpa at the time of application
  • Completion of POLS 206 (C or better)
  • Completion of Math 140 (C or better)
  • Minimum of 12 degree progress hours
  • No more than 60 degree progress hours
  • Preferred coursework: PSAA 210 (C or better)

*All interested student are encouraged to meet with a Bush school advisor prior to application.

Both a BA & BS are offered in this degree. Students pursuing the BA option should have 14 hours of foreign language completed by 60 total hours at Texas A&M.

Public Service & Administration Program Information

International Affairs (INTA)

Requirements to Change Major to International Affairs (INTA)

  • Must have a 2.50 GPA at the time of application
  • Highly advise students to start language coursework early

    • If under 30 hours, completion of foreign language course or credit is required. 

    • If more than 45+ hours than 101 and 102 must be completed

    • Students with more than 60 hours must have 101-202 completed and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis

  • Prefer STAT 201 or ECON 202 or 203 with a C or better
  • Student interested in a change of major into INTA should meet with INTA advising prior to requesting a major change
  • This degree requires a 10-week international experience after completion of their foreign language 202 and INTS 201
